Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan's superhero flick 'Krrish 3', which released on Friday (November 1), has collected a whopping Rs 72 crore in its opening weekend despite the pre-Diwali fever.
The movie had collected approximately Rs 25 crore on its opening day, it seems Hrithik and dad Rakesh Roshan's Diwali gamble seems to have paid off.
"#Krrish3 collects Rs 72.8 cr nett in its opening weekend: Fri 25.5 cr, Sat 23 cr, Sun 24.3 cr. Inclusive of Hindi + Tamil + Telugu, tweeted trade analyst Taran Adarsh.
Taran further wrote that Monday is going to be humungous for the sci-fi film and the movie was already running to packed houses in the morning itself.
"#Krrish3 has opened to packed houses everywhere. Monday biz will be HUMUNGOUS."
The movie had got mixed reviews from the critics, Indian Express critic Shubhra Gupta had said in her review : "Hrithik is the perfect choice amongst the Bollywood superstar lot to do this role."
"With his superbly articulated chest, each muscle moving and shiny and oiled, Krrish doesn't even need a mask and a cape. But the ensemble is eye-catching, and we ignore his immaculately-styled long hair, flying in the wind, when he is whizzing about rescuing little boys. Roshan Jr is as likeable and earnest as he usually is, but can't rise above the mothballed treatment. Roshan Sr, who has written and directed, should have given the superhero more to do," she further wrote.
Director Rakesh Roshan had initially wanted to release #Krrish3 on Monday (November 4), since business would be optimum today.
Directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan, the superhero sci-fi drama was made at a budget of about Rs.100-Rs.150 crore.
Another trade analyst Komal Nahta is also confident about 'Krrish 3' achieving great success.
He tweeted, "Rock-steady! That's the only way to describe 'Krrish 3', given that Saturday was last day of dull pre-Diwali... Historic!"
The film's success is going to make the entire 'Krrish 3' team happy including Vivek Oberoi, Kangana Ranaut and Priyanka Chopra.
